Yes, that album proved she could convincingly do modern pop. But her songs are uniquely her, which is uniquely feminine. This is why Ryan Adams covering that album was so appealing and:or important. And if you don’t like pitchfork reviewing that version instead of hers, you should have already known that pitchfork is a bunch of edgy snobs.

I believe 1989 expanded her core demographic that included more grown adults, bc that type of music is easy for the brain to filter(catchy). During that era, do you remember discussions that you had here about how 1989 only made her more appealing to both casuals and non-listeners?
